Our Mission

Ilan Ramon Day School prepares our children to embrace the diverse challenges of the 21st century. We are a community Jewish day school with an integrated curriculum focused on critical thinking, community involvement, the values of Judaism, and a personal connection to Israel. Our innovative program develops lifelong learners and leaders by emphasizing intellectual, spiritual and creative development with a focus on the social-emotional growth of each student.

OUR CORE VALUES

Our Hero, Our History

In 1993, Heschel West Day School was formed by dedicated families in the Conejo Valley to provide Jewish youth with an outstanding Jewish and general studies education. In 2014, the School was renamed Ilan Ramon Day School in honor of Israel’s famous astronaut, Ilan Ramon, who tragically died aboard the Columbia Space Shuttle upon its re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere in January of 2003.

Ilan Ramon’s academic strengths, humble character, and love of Israel, Jewish tradition, and the Jewish people, inspire our school’s mission, values, and curriculum. His skills of problem-solving, resilience, and critical thinking shaped his career as both a fighter pilot and astronaut which are a model for our students.
